1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that websites store in your browser to remember preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how you use the site.

In addition to cookies, modern web applications also use localStorage and sessionStorage — browser features that store data locally on your device. localStorage persists until you clear it; sessionStorage is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab.

This policy covers all three: cookies, localStorage, and sessionStorage as used by JobSeeker-AI.

We do not use advertising cookies.

We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

We do not use analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics). We may add opt-in analytics in the future and will update this policy accordingly.

3. Session Storage

We use sessionStorage (cleared when you close your browser tab) to temporarily hold:

  • Job description data when navigating from Job Search to Generate
  • Search state within a session

This data is never sent to our servers and disappears when the tab is closed.

4. Third-Party Services

Some third-party services we use may set their own cookies:

  • Stripe — sets cookies when you interact with the billing/checkout flow for fraud prevention and payment security. See Stripe's cookie policy for details.
  • Vercel — our hosting provider may set technical cookies for routing and performance.

We have no control over third-party cookies. They are governed by each provider's own privacy and cookie policies.

5. Managing Cookies

  • You can clear cookies and localStorage via your browser settings at any time.
  • Clearing authentication cookies will log you out.
  • Clearing preference cookies will reset your theme and UI preferences.
  • Most browsers allow you to block cookies — note that blocking required cookies will prevent login.

6. Cookie Consent Banner

When you first visit JobSeeker-AI, we show a cookie consent banner. Accepting it records your consent in localStorage (jsai_cookie_consent).

You can withdraw consent by clearing your browser's localStorage for our site, but this will also reset other preferences such as your theme setting and dismissed hints.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as we add new features. The effective date at the top will reflect the latest update. We will notify users of significant changes via email or in-app notice.
